Functional Medicine

Synergy members work with their doctor to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness

Functional Medicine is a way of working with patients to determine how and why illness occurs and to restore health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual. It requires a detailed understanding of each patient's genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors.

Functional medicine can be particularly helpful to patients interested in treating or improving a multitude of conditions including digestive disorders (including IBS), fatigue, autoimmune disease, thyroid disease including Hashimotos, and most chronic issues.

Our Institute of Functional Medicine-certified practitioners, offer a functional medicine approach integrated with traditional primary care as part of a plan to help prevent or reduce risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders (i.e. dementia), metabolic disease (i.e. diabetes), and cancer. We can perform functional testing including SIBO breath tests, stool and microbiome analysis, food sensitivity, comprehensive thyroid assessments, hormone analysis, and nutritional deficiency screening.
